electric dreams

ripped from the mundane
holding my hand all the way down
to the bottom of the mountain
to the top of the valley
and it opens up below me
swallowing me whole
my feet seem sworn to take me
down into the darkness
and the lights that leave their scars
everything i knew was solid
changed to liquid and dripped away from me
the whole universe became the softest wettest clay
and my mind instantaneously determined its shape

nothing constant
your body is constantly in motion
the waters and the winds are constantly
flowing by you
stars explode into being
flowing through you
and these visions these electric dreams
were no more static
than the earth around the sun
the sun around our galaxy
geometry infinitely incomprehensible
mental ballets of figures spinning
supercomputer imaginations rendered into three-dimensional fantasias
moving cycling transitions into transitions
opening and closing expanding and dropping through

colors are plugged in and electrocuted
everything is under control and out of control
and all the while my feet are carrying me onward
there's no way to stop or go back or undo
i can't close my eyes i can't open my eyes
everything is altered
everything has transformed
my world is only what i perceive
and that is so easily toyed with
so easily taken away
how can i know what i perceive is reality
when the sweater is unraveled
who will believe it was ever something besides a pile of string

numb shock
lock jaw burning
stomach slowly frozen
head throbbing
super-reality has awoken within my brain
the caged creature that lurks in the shadows
reaches for the canvas
claws tearing into my liquid heaven
my rainbow galaxies shredded before me
dark horned heads laughing muscled arms lay waste
to fantasy lands traveled
the black mountain opens
fingers reach above and pluck the stars
from their space leaving black tentacles circumscribing
vertexes bent marching and dancing away
fading into another dull headache
returning to my mental cage
closing the lock
and hiding the key
falling asleep in a pile of rainbow colored yarn
